On December 13, 2024, the Albanian Institute of Sciences (AIS), with the support of the Albanian Center for Economic Research (ACER) and the Society for Democratic Culture (SDC), organized an important roundtable discussion titled: “State Budget and Public Finances in Election Years and Election Periods – Legal Regulation, Institutional Practices and the Need for Intervention and Improvement”

This activity was part of the 6th Edition of the Integrity Week and the project ““EU4 Rule of Law: Citizen Engagement for Public Integrity (CEPI) in the Western Balkans and Turkey”, a project funded by the European Union.

Tryeza e diskutimit u përqendrua në disa elemente kyçe, duke përfshirë:

• The presentation of a policy paper by experts,
• Institutional perspective
• Key findings and recommendations from monitoring and advocacy efforts on financial transparency during election years,
• Legislation and Electoral Financing Model in the Republic of Kosovo

Mr. Zef Preçi, Executive Director of the Albanian Center for Economic Research (ACER), was one of the main panelists in Panel III. He shared significant analyses on challenges and recommendations for improving financial transparency during election years.

The discussions fostered constructive dialogue among experts, policymakers, and representatives of civil society, highlighting the need for greater transparency and reforms in managing public finances during electoral periods.
