A consultative workshop<\/strong> on the Preventive Anti-Corruption Assessment of the Draft Law \u201cOn the Extended Responsibilities of Producers of Products that Generate Waste\u201d<\/strong> brought together Members of Parliament, representatives from civil society organizations, business associations, public institutions, and legal experts.<\/p>\n

The event gathered MPs from both the ruling majority and the opposition Blendi Him\u00e7i, Zamira Sinaj, Gjin Gjoni, Klodiana Capja, Kliti Hoti, Redi Mu\u00e7i, and Edmond Haxhinasto<\/strong>\u00a0 as well as representatives from the Parliamentary Committee on Natural Resources, Infrastructure and Sustainable Development and the Committee on Economy, Employment and Finance.<\/p>\n

\"\"During the workshop, the Alternative Opinion of Civil Society<\/strong> was presented, developed using the Corruption Proofing of Legislation (CPL) Methodology<\/strong>, supported by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD)<\/strong>. Discussions focused on identifying potential corruption risks within the draft law, assessing the impact of extended producer responsibilities on integrated waste management, and reinforcing the importance of transparency, parliamentary oversight, and civil society participation in shaping effective environmental and economic legislation.<\/p>\n

Participating MPs underlined the value of the CPL mechanism as a practical tool to strengthen the integrity of the legislative process and prevent state capture. They expressed broad support for the recommendations prepared by civil society organizations, while acknowledging that tight legislative timelines can affect the quality of laws.<\/p>\n

Civil society representatives emphasized the need for sustained and meaningful dialogue between Parliament and CSOs to ensure inclusive and high-quality policymaking. As part of this engagement, the Committee for Natural Resources, Infrastructure, and Sustainable Development<\/strong> invited CSOs and stakeholders to a follow-up hearing session to further discuss and refine the findings of the CPL Opinion.<\/p>\n

This event was organized by the Shqiptare p\u00ebr K\u00ebrkime Ekonomike<\/strong> and the Albanian Institute of Science (AIS)<\/strong>, with the support of WFD Albania<\/strong>, as part of the project \u201cWestern Balkans Framework: Investing in Democratic Resilience\u201d<\/strong>, funded by the FCDO<\/strong> through the British Embassy in Tirana<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
